We're always up for a good Petite Sirah, so we were happy to see this new Platinum Reserve offering from Trader Joe's on a recent trip to the store. Let's check out how it measures up.

From the bottle:

Vinted and Bottled by the Familia Nueva Vineyards
14.83% Alcohol

The 2021 Trader Joe's Platinum Reserve Paso Robles Petite Sirah Lot #107 opens with a strong, enticing aroma loaded with ripe dark berry fruit plus baking spice, licorice and a little vanilla.

Tasting reveals more of the same with lots of ripe, rich, juicy berry fruit that has a bit of a dried fruit component to it. This is a big and bold wine, just like it should be. It also features more licorice, some cola and nicely integrated spice.

It ends dry, long and a bit grippy and was similar on day 2. This is a solid example of Petite Sirah.
