Our Napa Valley winery is devoted exclusively to making influential luxury Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Sauvignon Blends. Taking inspiration from our founding winemaker Dave Phinney who sought out to make red wines that would compete with the greatest wines of the world. This tradition was enhanced by the addition of winemaker Kirk Venge in 2008 through 2018/19 who obtained a perfect 100 Points from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate. Present-day winemaking is now in the hands of genius Julien Fayard who hails from Château Lafite-Rothschild and Atelier Melka before becoming the most brilliant new winemaker in Napa Valley.

Charles Bartlett purchased the brand in 2019 with the intent to carry on the dream created by Ed and Trish Snider, whom he has known for many years. Charles has worked in Napa since the late 1970s and has built a very successful wine trading company, working with many of the top names in the mountain AVAs. For years, he’d considered hanging out his own winery shingle. But each time he considered jumping that hurdle, he thought better of it and checked his ego at the door — reminding himself that it’s far easier to craft excellent mountain Cabernet Sauvignon than to sell it. 30 years later, Charles Bartlett believed carrying the torch of a brand with such historical recognition was one he could fully stand behind and take pride in continuing its amazing history.His hiring of Julien Fayard will usher in a new era and employ modern practices both in the vineyard and in the cellar. He believes the new team at Fayard Winemaking are local masters of their craft and will elevate the overall quality of the wines for years to come. CULT Cabernet Sauvignon, is now among Napa Valley’s most acclaimed labels with year-over-year 93 to 98 points from the world's most renowned critics. The Beau Vigne Collection wines will continue the long-standing tradition of hand-harvested grapes planted and grown on Atlas Peak, the Pritchard Hill growing region and various neighboring viticultural areas of Napa Valley including Howell Mountain, Oakville and Rutherford.

HERO is a multi-vineyard / multi-AVA blend with one sole focus: Cabernet Sauvignon sites that have chalky soils. This focus adds a memorable concentration and minerality to the wine. We seek vineyards that benefit from cool mornings and warm, sunny afternoons. Sun orientations that optimize the expression of the variety. Vineyard sites in Red Hills, Lake County, Napa Valley and Sonoma Valley that vary from 150 to 2000 feet above sea level.
Winemaker Note: A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Syrah. It showcases a dense purple color as well as a wonderful perfume of chocolate, blackberries, blueberries and subtle oak.

And now on to our review:
The 2021 The Beau Vigne Collection Hero Red opens with a very pleasing aroma loaded with tons of succulent blackberry notes plus coffee, chocolate, cedar, lots of varied spice and more. This vintage offers a bit more spice and vanilla in the aroma than the also excellent 2020 we previously offered.
Taking a sip reveals a smooth, delicious, easy to drink red blend with good depth, good balance and plenty of complexity. Featuring similar flavors to the nose and wonderful spice notes throughout this is very tasty, crowd-pleasing stuff.
It ends dry and long and might have even been a tad better on day 2.
