This Zinfandel has a jammy flavor with fruity aromas of blackberry, cherry, plum and black pepper, blending nicely with the oaky notes. On the palate is a wine with full body characteristics, intense flavors and refreshing palate, achieving a perfect balance.
Bright fruit, spice, texture, and all of the tannin is a hallmark of the high elevation vineyards of Lake County. Aged 10 months in oak (25% French).

And now on to our review:
The 2021 Clay Shannon Zinfandel Junior begins with a very pleasing aroma of black cherry, blackberry and plum fruit that's ripe and a bit jammy. It also has lots of secondary touches like licorice, spice, black pepper, vanilla and more. It's a great start.
Tasting reveals a balanced, but flavorful, Zin with a wonderful, smooth mouthfeel. It features similar flavors to the nose with great depth on the fruit, lots of licorice and just a touch of smokiness. Notes of spice, vanilla and wild herbs add layers of complexity to this very tasty Zinfandel.
It ends dry, very long and grippy. It was even a bit more expressive by day 2. We love it.
